Timeline

I've lived a third of my life in Sweden, a third in China, a third in the US — Uppsala, then Stockholm, then Beijing, then Boston, then Stockholm again. Somewhere in that shuffling I stopped being able to answer “where are you from” with one word. I was Swedish, then Swedish-and-Chinese, then increasingly American, until the cultures melded enough that I started thinking of myself less by nationality and more as an international citizen. Ask me today and I'd say I feel more Swedish than I have in years.
